Skeelings are vicious animals. They are blind but make up for their lack of sight with excellent hearing. They are about the size of a badger and live in underground burrows. They have been known to eat tree roots, killing the tree in the process. They have ridged scales and two rows of very sharp teeth.
Richter and Sion encounter a giant version of a skeeling on their way to Yves. It has been by proximity to a Seed Core. It chases Richter while Sion shoots it from a tree.[1]
